Home Delivery service provides Library services to Schaumburg Township District Library cardholders of all ages who are unable to come to the Library for any of the following reasons:
- Temporary or permanent physical disability
- Visual impairment
- Age 62 or older
- No other means of receiving Library services, such as delivery through family members or friends
- Live-in caregiver of a person who cannot leave the home
Patrons applying for Home Delivery service must have a Schaumburg Township District Library card in good standing. Patrons may apply to receive Home Delivery services by submitting an application on the Library’s website or requesting a copy of the form from Outreach Services staff. If the patron qualifies for Home Delivery service, staff will speak with the patron to discuss the service and its policies.
Patrons registered for Home Delivery service may request material by using the Library’s online catalog or by contacting the Outreach Services Department. There is no fee for Home Delivery service.
Deliveries are made to senior living facility staff, doorsteps of private residences, and by mail. The mode of delivery will be determined by the patron’s type of residence and location in the Library’s service district.
Replacement costs of borrowed items that are lost or damaged are the responsibility of the Home Delivery patron.
Library staff cannot enter a patron’s private residence or provide assistance with activities of daily living or advice on financial or personal matters.
Library staff may recommend suspension of Home Delivery service if there are conditions or circumstances in which the Library staff are not being treated with dignity or respect or feel that their safety is in jeopardy.
Patrons who violate the terms and requirements defined above are subject to restriction or discontinuance of Home Delivery services.
