The Reflection Room is established as an inclusive and welcoming space for our patrons and serves those of diverse faiths and non-faiths. This space is intended for contemplation, meditation, prayer, and reflection. It is open when the Library is open and is not available 15 minutes before closure. Anyone in the Library is welcome to use the space (located in the Central Library on the second floor near the Rasmussen Room restrooms).

Guidelines

  • This is not a study or social gathering space. Once you finish your reflection, please leave the space for others to use.
  • This is a space for individuals to reflect. Conversations about identity and belief are to be held outside this space.
  • No religious references, materials, symbols, or icons will be left in the space.
  • The furniture and equipment are available for anyone to use.
  • All furniture and equipment must remain in the room and be returned to its original location before leaving.
  • No food or drinks other than water is allowed.
  • No cell phones are to be used.
  • Candles and incense are not permitted.
  • Capacity is typically 3-4 patrons
  • Time limit is 30 minutes

Use

Patrons request use of the room at the Reference Desk.
  • After use, patrons must let the Reference desk know they are finished with the Reflection Room.
  • Please note that the door will automatically lock when leaving the Reflection Room. If a patron needs assistance entering the room again, please ask at the Reference desk.
