Meetings of the Schaumburg Township District Library shall be noticed and held in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS 120/1, et seq.
Agendas for any meeting of the Library Board shall be prepared by the Library Director, in consultation with the Library Board President or, in the case of a special meeting, with the Board members who have called the special meeting.
The Director will circulate to all members of the Library Board a draft of any agenda at least 96 hours in advance of the meeting, unless impracticable. Any Library Board member may request that the Director place additional items on the meeting agenda. Any request received by the Director at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting will be honored and the requested additional items will be placed on the agenda.
Meeting agendas will be posted at Schaumburg Township District Library and on the Library’s website at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting or as otherwise required by the Illinois Open Meetings Act, and will remain continuously available for the 48-hour period preceding the meeting. These final agendas will also be distributed to Library Board Members at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting. In the case where a meeting is called due to a bona fide emergency, and 48-hour notice is not possible, agendas will be posted and distributed according to this policy as far in advance of the meeting as possible.
In compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, agendas for regular meetings will provide a reasonable description of the general subject matter of the meeting, including all items to be considered for final action by the Library Board. Agendas for special meetings will provide a reasonable description of each and every topic to be discussed at the special meeting.
Approved by the Schaumburg Township District Library Board of Trustees on May 18, 2015 and revised on March 20, 2023.
