Under certain conditions, the Schaumburg Township District Library provides a monitoring service for test takers from colleges and universities, as well as for employers.
We will only proctor exams for residents of the library district who have a Schaumburg Township District Library card.
Approval for proctoring paperwork should be submitted to us for completion.
The test will be scheduled and given at the convenience of the library staff. At least one week notice is needed before a test can be scheduled.
Tests will be proctored by a Reference Librarian or Computer Assistance staff member on duty at the scheduled time of the exam. Constant supervision or monitoring cannot be provided.
If a timed test is being taken, the staff will time the test and notify the taker when the time is up.
Paper Tests: A self-addressed stamped envelope should be provided, if necessary, to return the test to the school after it is taken. Paper tests will be returned in the library’s regular outgoing mail on the next business day following the test. All exams that need to be sent outside the continental 48 states will be subject to a $10 shipping and handling charge.
Online Tests: Online tests must be web-based and not a program that needs to be downloaded. Our firewall will block downloads or installations. Online exams cannot be taken on Sunday. We cannot guarantee access to online tests because we have no control over Internet sites.
We will ask for a photo ID and make sure the student does not have books or notes with him/her.
To request a proctor, contact the Reference Desk at (847) 923-3322. Once a request has been approved, library staff will schedule an appointment with the student and provide information about receiving tests and instructions.
