Beginning Monday, Sept. 26, our printers and copiers will use a new payment system. This new payment system will make it even simpler for you to print and make copies at our Library. With the update to this new, more secure system, a few things will change for you:
- Black and white copies and print-outs will cost 10¢ per side for letter (8 1/2″ x 11″) and legal (8 1/2″ x 14″) sizes. Black and white tabloid (11″ x 17″) copies and print-outs will cost 20¢ per side. (This change is due to ever increasing supply costs.)
- Color copies and print-outs will cost 50¢ per side for all sizes. (This change comes as we look to align prices with similar services in our community.)
- If you are a Schaumburg Library cardholder, you will now use your Library card or cash to pay for copies and printing.
- If you are not a Schaumburg Library cardholder, we will issue you a new EZ Pay printing card or you may use cash to pay for copies and printing.
Q: I have funds on a printing card, but would like them moved onto my Library card so everything is on one account. Can I transfer this money to my Library card?
A: Yes! Library staff at any public service desk can transfer your funds to your Library card for you.
Q: I’m not a Schaumburg Library cardholder. Where can I get a printing card?
A: Any public service desk (except the Teen Desk) can issue a printing card.
Q: How do I add funds to my Library card?
A: You can add funds to your Library card (or printing card) at any copier or printer using cash, or you can add funds from a credit card at the Check Out Desk, Information Desk or Computer Assistance Desk.
Q: I forgot my Library card at home. Can I still make copies?
A: If you forgot your Library card, any public service desk (except the Teen Desk) can issue you a printing card and can transfer funds from your Library card to the printing card.
Q: How do I use my Library card to pay for my printing or copying?
A: To make copies, use the touch screen at the copier to get started. Touch “Card,” then touch “Begin,” then swipe your Library card or printing card. As long as there are funds on your card, you’ll be able to make copies.
