Library Exhibit Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in exhibiting artwork at the Schaumburg Township District Library. We are
pleased to display the work of artists in Schaumburg Township. For-‐profit businesses and vendors are
prohibited. Works by artists from neighboring communities and elsewhere in Northwestern Cook
County may be exhibited as space permits.

Exhibitors may apply by reading these guidelines and signing an Exhibitor Application. Individuals are
required to submit an Exhibitor Application and agree to all guidelines, procedures and releases. The
Schaumburg Township District Library reserves the right to determine the appropriateness, scheduling,
and placement of all exhibited works. Once approved, you will be sent a release agreement which
waives responsibility of theft or damage to artwork. The Library does not provide insurance coverage.
You may return the form to the Reception Desk in the Central Library lobby, or mail it to Schaumburg
Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, IL 60193, Attn: Maureen Howell, Graphics
Department Coordinator. For questions about displaying artwork, call (847) 923-‐3119, or email

Each exhibit is scheduled for a period of one calendar month. The display period begins on the first
day of the month and ends on the last. Exhibit space is approved on a first-‐come, first-‐served basis.

Exhibitors set-up and take-down their own displays during prearranged times. Requests can be made
for assistance from the Graphics staff. The Library will collaborate with exhibitors to determine
placement of art and the appropriate number of pieces to display based on available exhibit space.

Exhibitors must honor their space commitments. If an exhibitor cancels at the last minute or does not
show up, he or she will not be allowed to exhibit again in the future.

All pieces should be prepared and ready to hang. The Library provides an easy-‐to-‐use metal hanging
system. (

When choosing artwork to exhibit, please remember that children and patrons of many cultures and
beliefs visit our Library each day. All exhibit material is subject to approval by the Library Board of
Trustees or its designee. Please submit photographs of all items to be displayed.

Artists who wish to sell their art, may do so subject to the prior approval of the Library Director or
designee, and provided that the artists have agreed beforehand upon a specified percentage of all
proceeds of sale to be donated to the Library, pursuant to an arrangement with the Library Director.
Exhibited artwork may not be labeled with prices. Any item(s) sold while on display in the Library may
not be removed before the end of the exhibition period.

Publicity is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
