Getting a Library Card
Adults and children who live in the Schaumburg Township Library District are eligible to receive a free library card. Two forms of proof of name and current street address are required at the time of registration. The signature of a parent or guardian is required for applicants aged fourteen (14) years or younger. Schaumburg residents ages 62 and over are eligible for a senior card with ‘no fine’ privileges.
Renewing a Library Card
Library cards must be renewed every three years.
If there is no change in address, just one (1) piece of identification is needed to verify name and address is needed.
If there is a change of address, two (2) pieces of identification will be needed to renew the library card.
ID’s accepted include a driver’s license, utility bill, voter’s registration, checkbook, state issued ID card, mail postmarked within two weeks, firearms license or an insurance card with name and address.
Cardholders must notify the Library of changes in name, street address, telephone number and/or e-mail address. If a card is lost or stolen, the cardholder must notify the Library immediately. The Library charges a fee to replace a lost card.

Business Library Card
Businesses and not-for-profit organizations located in the Schaumburg Township District Library service area are eligible to receive a Business Library Card at no cost. This card provides access to the Schaumburg Township District Library’s online databases and circulating collections. Upon presentation of the owner’s / manager’s personal photo ID, a written request on business/ organization letterhead, current documentation (dated within the last year) including a business license and a property tax bill or lease, or utility bill, a Business Library Card will be issued to one authorized employee. (If the authorized employee is someone other than the owner/manager, personal photo ID is required.) The owner/manager will be responsible for materials checked out and any charges assessed to the card. The Business Library Card can be renewed annually, if in good standing.
The Business Library Card may only be used to check out Schaumburg Township District Library materials. It may not be used at other libraries or for requesting interlibrary loans.
